The Metropolitan Historic Zoning Commission and partners will hold the 2016 Old House Fair on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 9am to 3pm at Sevier Park Community Center at 3021 Lealand Lane.  The Old House Fair is a free day-long festival featuring new ideas, practical advice, innovative materials, and quality services for homeowners. Learn more about sustainable and historic products and services, and gain tips for planning and executing your project.  Presentation topics include:

  • Enhancing energy efficiency
  • Maintaining and restoring old houses
  • How to hire a contractor
  • Choosing suitable materials
  • Identifying appropriate design elements for specific architectural styles and eras

Exhibitors will include companies, retailers, and artists experienced in working with homes of many ages and styles, from Antebellum to Mid-century Modern.  Feel free to bring your young preservationist along with you.  Volunteers from Historic Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum will host a variety of children’s activities.  For more information, visit
